Custom 3D PVC mascot keychains, from drawing to mold
A US DTF shop needed a soft PVC figurine and branded wrist strap that matched the 3D drawing — not a flat 2D logo fob.
The problem
The buyer wanted a custom 3D PVC mascot keychain (a cardinal in a varsity jacket, about 75 mm) plus a matching silicone wrist strap. China quotes for PVC keychains often mix this up: a 2D pour sold as 3D, a full-round figure with a cheap seam, color off the drawing, a surprise mold fee, and hardware (split ring, lobster clasp) that is not on the sample. A mascot is not a logo badge. It needs a multi-part 3D mold (head, jacket, sleeves, feet), not a single flat cavity.
What we did
We treated it as custom 3D soft PVC figure sourcing, not generic promo. We shortlisted factories that actually cut 3D PVC molds and assemble split parts, then ran a sample against the drawing: height, jacket colors, beak, and strap print. QC checked flash and parting line, clasp, and whether the strap print stayed put. Finished goods shipped with the matching wrist strap in one lot.
Result
The finished mascot matches the drawing. The client has a 3D PVC keychain they can actually hand out — figurine, strap and hardware as specified, without a second mold round.
